Hartford, SD native Brian Oakleaf, fell in love with drums in the '60s as he watched smiling drummers in the bands on TV. After a brief stint in grade school marching band, at fourteen he spent his first paycheck on a drum kit, adding cymbals as money allowed. Playing first in his brother's band, Brian honed a love for blues, evolving later into rock and many other styles. His resume includes performances at Jazz Fest, Rib Fest, and the Corn Palace in numerous, diverse groups. After performing for 37 years in four states, Brian has now found his niche in Something New. When he's not providing his trademark dance beat, Brian manages Oakleaf Auto Crushing near Hartford.
